Ashford CYB 300 Week 5 Final Project White Paper and Presentation for System Administration at The Sunny Scoop Shop
White Paper and Presentation for System Administration at The Sunny Scoop Shop. Due by Day 7.
Prior to beginning work on this assignment, read Chapters 32 through 37 in the Limoncelli, Hogan, and Chalup (2017) textbook; Chapter 13 in the Stewart, Chapple, and Gibson (2012) text; plus the article, Change Management: Best Practices.
The Final Project for this course is an accumulation of previous weeks’ assignments in which you will utilize all of the skills you have acquired in this course to write the documentation for several completed system administration tasks for The Sunny Scoop Shop (also known as The Scoop). Now you will combine these into a single project consisting of a presentation and a paper. The Final Project asks you to finish your work on The Sunny Scoop Shop’s website by revising the work you did in the assignments for Weeks One through Four and by completing the new tasks listed in the guidelines below.
For this assignment, you will continue in your role as the system administrator. You have been asked to give a talk at the annual League of Professional System Administrators (LOPSA) event as a subject matter expert (SME) in system administration. For your talk, you will provide examples of typical system administration tasks as these tasks are performed at The Scoop. You will be creating a presentation plus distributing a white paper for the attendees at the LOPSA talk.
Part 1—White Paper
The White Paper portion of your final project must include the following components:
Introduction
The introduction will provide an overview of the paper’s purpose, as well as a brief introduction to The Scoop and your role as a system administrator. Include no more than one paragraph describing and detailing the tasks involved in system administration. The introduction will then transition into the remaining sections of the paper.
How Technology Affects the Sunny Scoop Shop
In Week One, you wrote a description of how technology affects The Scoop. To complete this section, review the instructor feedback you received for your Week One Assignment and incorporate it into your final draft of this project.
Concept Map and Documentation for Support of a Service
In Week Two, you selected a service offered in The Scoop network for which you created a concept map and supporting documentation. To complete this section, review the instructor and peer feedback you received for your Week Two assignment and incorporate it into your final draft of this project.
System Security Practices
In Week Three, you updated your concept map and documentation to explain The Scoop’s desired security practices. To complete this section, review the instructor and peer feedback you received for your Week Three interactive assignment, and incorporate it into a final draft.
Assessment of the Roles and Responsibilities at The Scoop
In Week Four, you designed an access control standard and then assigned permissions for The Sunny Scoop Shop. To complete this section, review the instructor and peer feedback you received for the interactive assignment, incorporating it as appropriate, and include your Week Four assignment into a final draft.
Change and Configuration Management at The Scoop
Earlier this week, you created a flowchart to illustrate the stages and steps of the change management process, and created accompanying documentation that outlined the process that The Scoop should follow at each stage. At a minimum, you included the primary components discussed by Limoncelli, Hogan, and Chalup (2017), as well as any additional components that you felt were necessary.
You also created a flowchart to illustrate the phases of the configuration management process, and created accompanying documentation that provided an explanation of each phase of the process that The Scoop should follow. You also included any additional items that you felt were necessary.
To complete this section, incorporate any applicable instructor and peer feedback from your Week Five interactive assignment into your final draft.
Conclusion
The conclusion will summarize all of the sections of your paper. You may want to reflect on how the tasks discussed in the paper are only a small part of system administration.
